Work In Progress

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Childhood

For some unknown reason, I have decided to watch numerous videos of my childhood. I discovered a great thing. I have had a movie since I was the age of four on the same tape. This tape was recorded from the TV and I know I have seen it at least about 30 times in the last 5 years. So this video, is sixteen years old. Crazy. It is by far one of my favorite movies and always makes me laugh. The movie? "Who's In Charge Here". It's a ventriloquist and he is so talented and so funny. So in the family videos, I have made a puppet the same way he teaches you how to make on the tape. It was so funny to see it.

So I am watching it as I write. Here's a quote for you:

"What's that?"
"It's your arm"
"Keep it."
"I can't keep your arm."
"It's alright, I'm a punk, I can take it."

Previously, to this trip down memory lane, mom and I watched "Big Top Pee Wee". It's funny how much of the short quips I remember and are a part of my normal vocabulary. However, I guess I didn't realize as a kid just how weird Pee Wee Herman is. Oh well. Fun trips down memory lane. Thought I would share it with you.

Smile

I am at Epworth to nanny during Senior High Institute, in case any of you were unaware.

Epworth is my happy place. I feel peaceful and at home when I am here. I am familiar with almost everything here and have fond memories from every corner of this camp ground. I love to be here.

This week has added to new memories from previously unexplored areas of camp. We are staying in a SWEET cabin which I have never before been privledge to live in. It is beautiful and has an amazing view of the lake. It is air conditioned and huge. And best of all I can sit all the way up on my bunk because it is tall enough for an adult person.

My experiences this week have been in the joy of children. I have been a personal nanny to the newest Liskey child, Liam. He is a beautiful, peaceful, and fun baby. He smiles in his sleep and loves to be held above all other things. The other three children, Jack, Lucy, and Tate, are a wonderful joy as well. Lucy will often look at me and just smile for no reason and it makes my heart smile. The other night I was fortunate enough to be asked to lay with her while she went to sleep. She curled up against me and asked me to rub her back. She laid there like an angel and was soon peacefully asleep. Tate is full of crazy antics which makes me laugh and is just ridiculously cute. Today he wanted some watermelon like Jack and Lucy, so he came to find me. I had just prepared to get in the shower when I hear, "kimi....Kimi....KIMI.....KIMI.....KIMI...." It is always a joy to hear your name pronounced by a two year old. Its so cute. Jack is pretty much the best big brother to the other three you can imagine. He takes care of everybody, making sure everyone is safe and everyone is treated fairly. When he wants a snack he'll ask for some for Lucy and Tate too because he knows they will want some when they see his. He is remarkably mature and intelligent for his age. When trying to spell to the other adults so the kids won't understand, Jack almost always figures out what we are saying. I have even taken to spelling to him to explain stuff that the other kids shouldn't hear. For example, "We won't watch the m-o-v-i-e right not because Tate needs to n-a-p." So intelligent!

Anyway, I have enjoyed my time with the kids and thought you should know about it. I will likely not be online anymore because I don't have nearly as much free time as I thought, and I like it that way.

Gone

Headed for the Royal Family Kids Camp
Headed for a lot of fun...
Well, I'm off to camp for a week so I thought I would leave some stuff for you all to look at.

Cory's Cross left quite an impression on me....

View upon entering my new room....

My first piece of actually painted artwork!

The entire room was inspired by the handmade Moroccan crafts. Note: The hanging bag and the two pillows on the front of the bed. Thanks Cory! Tell your artisan all about it! I love it.

Limp

I read a title of a book at work yesterday and I was really excited. It was called leading with a limp. I think this might be a motto for my life. Sometimes I am so discouraged with my "limp" I feel as though I cannot lead. But God uses me and my weaknesses to show his strength. So I will continue to lead with a limp and let God show his strength.

School

My apologies for another school related post, but I just wanted to share I got another 4.0 for the semester! Head Traumas and all!

Update

I officially finished this school year. That's a pretty exciting achievement.

I thought I had a lot more to say, but apparently I was wrong. So we'll stop here and wait for some real story.

Done

I just want to share that I have finished the two hardest semester of my college education in one year! Awesome!

Music

Is it just me or does God sometimes work through music?

I was driving today, on my way to my elementary school, and I was in a major funk. I have had a lot of trouble seeing myself as anything worthy or anything in God's eyes and have been extremely distraught over this for several days. (No comments about this portion please. I am feeling better so let's just leave it at that.) I'm driving and beginning to realize I have to calm down before I get to school or I will scare my kids and teacher. (Background knowledge: I put in a set of six CD's the other day. Several old favorites and one fairly new CD that I have never listened to, but bought for one specific song.) As I'm driving. The one new CD is playing and in the midst of my distress on comes this song. This song brought such unspeakable peace to my heart. God's timing truly is perfect.

Your Beloved

Lord it was You,
You created the heavens.
And Lord, it was Your hands
That put the stars in their place.
Lord, it was Your voice
That commands the morning.
'Cause even oceans and their waves bow at your feet, O Lord.

Lord, who am I
Compared to Your glory?
Lord, who am I
Compared to Your majesty?

'Cause I'm your beloved,
Your creation,
And You love me as I am.
You've called me, chosen
For Your kingdom.
Unashamed to call me your own-
I'm your beloved.

Lord it was You,
You created the heavens.
And Lord, it was Your hands
That put the stars in their place.
Lord, it was Your voice
That commands the morning.
'Cause even oceans and their waves bow at your feet, O Lord.

Lord, who am I
Compared to Your glory?
Lord, who am I
Compared to Your majesty?

'Cause I'm your beloved,
Your creation,
And You love me as I am.
You've called me, chosen
For Your kingdom.
Unashamed to call me your own-
I'm your beloved.

[instrumental]

Lord, who am I
Compared to Your glory?
Lord, who am I
Compared to Your majesty?

'Cause I'm your beloved,
Your creation,
And You love me as I am.
You've called me, chosen
For Your kingdom.
Unashamed to call me your own-
I'm your beloved.

Song

Hard to Get

You who live in heaven
Hear the prayers of those of us who live on earth
Who are afraid of being left by those we love
And who get hardened by the hurt
Do you remember when You lived down here where we all scrape
To find the faith to ask for daily bread
Did You forget about us after You had flown away
Well I memorized every word You said
Still I'm so scared, I'm holding my breath
While You're up there just playing hard to get
You who live in radiance
Hear the prayers of those of us who live in skin
We have a love that's not as patient as Yours was
Still we do love now and then
Did You ever know loneliness
Did You ever know need
Do You remember just how long a night can get?
When You were barely holding on
And Your friends fall asleep
And don't see the blood that's running in Your sweat
Will those who mourn be left uncomforted
While You're up there just playing hard to get?
And I know you bore our sorrows
And I know you feel our pain
And I know it would not hurt any less
Even if it could be explained
And I know that I am only lashing out
At the One who loves me most
And after I figured this, somehow All I really need to know
Is if You who live in eternity
Hear the prayers of those of us who live in time
We can't see what's ahead
And we can not get free of what we've left behind
I'm reeling from these voices that keep screaming in my ears
All the words of shame and doubt, blame and regret I can't see how
You're leading me unless
You've led me here
Where I'm lost enough to let myself be led
And so You've been here all along I guess
It's just Your ways and You are just plain hard to get.
